Mittwoch Mix - Uncanny Valley Girlz Vol. 3

Covers came up on Bluesky recently, and I shared that my absolute favorite cover song is Teho Teardo & Blixa Bargeld's take on "Hey Hey My My"

But then I got thinking of all the other cover mixes I've made and have in the works, so tossed together a 3rd Volume of Uncanny Valley Girlz, mixes of covers to put on as background music at a gathering where you want people’s ears to prick up and for them to exclaim, “wait, is this a cover of…?”

The cover of Enya's "Book of Days" will probably only be recognized by a tiny of sliver of people, but oh, the look on their faces...

Mittwoch Mixes - February 2026

I usually put the mix titles in the post titles for my Mittwoch Mixes, but these two mixes, one much more than the other, are inexorably tied to this last month for me. Honestly, it feels like it's been a year since my last mixes, Mittwoch Mixes - Working & Zurück, when it's barely been a month and a half...

Mittwoch Mixes - Working & Zurück

I've revived my other blog, Antagonist Relations, as I've been working on some Hunter material that I want to publish through the Storyteller's Guild, among other things.

I've started re-listening to the hwæt! give me infinite skies mix as the motorik beat is great for focusing while working, and then decided to make another playlist of nearly wordless songs to work to for a little variety.

This mix is still propulsive, but I didn't focus on the motorik Krautrock beat. I'll probably make another Working Mix next month that switches back to that style.

The second mix for this week was inspired by listening to the 2025 Fini Tribe compilation The Sheer Action of the Fini Tribe, I discovered that "Do We Understand Each Other" shared some lyrical fragments with Chris Connelly's later project Damage Manual's "Mad Dialect".

So I put together a mix of artists updating their own earlier work in different versions, almost covers, but where the original artist or one of their later projects covers the earlier work.
